POSITION SUMMARY

To perform a range of painting work to properly and professionally maintain Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council assets and deliver a quality service to the community.

GENERAL DUTIES

Perform painting workwithin the scope of your classification.

Work in with other trades,such as carpenters, electricians and plumbers to ensure a smooth workflow.

Provide advice to the BuildingServices Manager in the selection of materials (e.g. type of paint mostsuitable) and equipment.

Ensure all works arecarried out to agreed standards and in accordance with Council’s specificationswith no defects.

Ensure thatall vehicles, plant, tools and associated equipment are used in an appropriatemanner and kept in good working condition.

Work insmall teams and alone, prioritising tasks to meet time schedules and withinbudget.

Work withother staff, Apprentices and/or Trade Assistants as required to ensure thatworks are completed within set time frames, budgets and to Council standards.

Have staffdiscussions without bias and make recommendations for solutions as required.Assist the Building Services Manager in maintainingaccurate records of building maintenance and repairs.

Correctlycomplete all administrative processes on repair and maintenance jobs for entryinto the building maintenance management system.

Performdaily safety and maintenance checks.

Provide andkeep updated Safe Work Method Statements and Job Safety Analysis documentsapplicable to your area of responsibility.

Performhousekeeping duties to ensure that work areas and work sites are maintained ina clean condition and clear of hazards and debris and that tools and equipmentare tidied at the end of each day.

Ensure allincidents and near misses are reported to the WHS Officer or equivalent, andthat environmental incidents are reported to the relevant authorities.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Trade qualifications as a painter.

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a qualified tradesperson.

Sound time management and workload prioritisation skills.

Sound written and oral communication skills, and an abilityto communicate effectively in a cross-cultural environment.

A current Class “C” Class Drivers Licence (Manual).

Ability to obtain and retain a Working with Children BlueCard if required.

Agree to a Commonwealth Police Check if required.

Current holds or able to obtain a White Card (ConstructionSafety Induction) and a Qbuild induction Card.

Current Occupational Immunisations or be willing to obtain.
