The Coastal Hazard Adaptation Strategy (CHAS) project is all about working together to proactively plan for the future management of our coastal areas to increase resilience and protect our township against the short, medium and long-term impacts of coastal hazards.
What is the strategy?
We are developing a strategy to better understand emerging coastal hazard risks (coastal erosion, storm time inundation and sea level rise) and how to proactively manage their impacts on our communities, environment and the liveability of our township. This includes impacts on: Community infrastructure including boating facilities, picnic & camping areas Indigenous and non-indigenous cultural areas including significant
sites Environmental features including sand dunes, creeks & wetlands Buildings and infrastructure including buildings, homes, roads & utilities
